Course Description:
600M Swim: Sandy Beach Start. You will do one lap (600M / .37 Mile) around a square course counter clockwise. After the swim, you will run up the small grassy hill to the swim to bike tag zone.
14 Mile Road Bike: The out and back 14 mile bike course exits the park heading north on Hwy 35 towards Superior. At the 7-mile mark you will turn around at an “island” and head back. When you are near the park, you will turn to your left at a controlled intersection where you will tag off with your runner at the bike to run tag zone.
3.1 Mile Trail Run: The out and back 3.1 mile trail run is a reverse lollypop layout. You will run out of the bike/run transition zone on the East side of the lake to the turn around. On the way back you will run on the West side of the lake to the run to swimmer tag zone and finish line.
Timing:
All athletes will have a timing chip assigned to them. You are not allowed near the timing pads when not racing for it will mess up the timing.
Course Rules:
Swimmers must wear swim caps (provided)
Wet suits are recommended as the water has been quite cold
Bikers must wear approved bike helmets
No drafting on bike course
We adhere to all race regulations as set by the Triathlon Federation USA.
Safety:
An EMT team will be on site throughout the day in the transition area to meet your first aid needs. A professional water safety team will manage the swim course and the Douglas County Sheriff will manage road security for the bike course. On the run course, volunteers will manage the aid station that you will run by twice at approximately the 1-mile and 2-mile mark. The run turn around (1.5 mile mark) will have first aid supplies and communication in case of an emergency.
